Mother-in-law's Afghan
The granny square pattern is as follows:
[ Note A: Ch 1 means to create one chain
Ch-1 means an existing stitch
of one chain ]
[ Note B: Join the squares in each row, and join the rows, using single
crochet.
Be sure your sides are all facing the same way! The ridge the single
crochet makes
creates a nice effect on the *right*side, do not work on the wrong side! ]
Ch 3. Join with sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 1
*3 dc in ring, ch1;
rep from * twice
join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3
finish off.
Rnd 2: With right side facing, sl st to next ch-1 sp.
ch 3, (2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in same sp
*ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-1 sp;
rep from * twice.
ch 1,
join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3
finish off.
Rnd 3: With right side facing, sl st to next ch-1 sp,
(ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in same sp.
*ch 1, 3 dc in next sp between groups for side,
ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next corner ch-1 sp;
rep from * twice.
3 dc in next side sp; ch 1,
join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3.
Make two more rounds. This gives a total of 5 rounds.
